About
I am a linguist whose primary interests lie at the intersection of linguistics and fan studies. As the internet becomes increasingly algorithmic, we are presented with personalised versions of comments sections, recommendation pages and all sorts of content on our personal devices. I am curious as to how this might facilitate more people becoming 'hardcore fans' (to put it crudely!) and how fans might come to dominate the social media world. I am curious as to how language both serves as a way one can be a 'good' or legible fan, but also how language is used to enforce other, non-linguistic fan behaviours.
Outside of linguistics, I am also a performance artist with Frank Chickens, performing regularly around the London and the rest of the UK!
